The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of January 20 – January 26, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
January 20, 2014
Arrested was Calvin O. Heard, 30, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Also arrested was Randy D. Byrd, 26, of Cove, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.
Report of missing food items led to a 13-year-old Mena male being issued a Juvenile Citation for Theft of Property. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.
January 21, 2014
Report from complainant on Polk 17 near Vandervoort of the theft of prescription medication, valued at 30.00. Investigation continues.
Arrested was Michael R. Delmastro, 33, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.
Report from a business on Hornbeck Avenue in Hatfield of a gas drive-off, totaling losses at $50.01. Investigation continues.
Report from complainant on Polk 238 near Mena of the theft of jewelry, valued at $1,015.00. Investigation continues.
January 22, 2014
Arrested was Marvin O. Thompson, 37, of Hatfield, on Warrants for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
Report of a disturbance on Polk 39 near the Potter community led to the arrest of Justin M. Cannon, 25, of Mena, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass and a Warrant for Failure to Appear.
Report from complainant on Polk 39 near the Potter community of the fraudulent use of a credit card, totaling losses at $938.29. Investigation continues.
January 23, 2014
Report of a disturbance on Mullins Street in Hatfield led to the arrest of Rachel M. O’leary, 25, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Arrested was Ruston K. St. John, 67, of Mena, on a Warrant for Arson.
January 24, 2014
Report of two juveniles with strange behavior led to two 15-year-old Wickes males being issued Juvenile Citations for Public Intoxication. A 15-year-old DeQueen male was issued a Juvenile Citation for Possession of a Controlled Substance. All juveniles were released to the custody of a parent/guardian.
Report from a storage facility on Highway 71 South in the Potter community of a unit being broken into, causing damages to the door and lock. Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 44 near Mena. One of the subjects was escorted from the residence.
Report of an unattended brush fire on Polk 76 East near Mena. Investigation continues into the origin of the fire.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.
