Polk County Sheriff’s Department – March 24 – 30, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of March 24 – March 30, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

March 24, 2014

Report from complainant on Highway 8 East near the Big Fork community of the break-in and theft of electronics and a weedeater, all valued at $1,099.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from walk-in complainant of being assaulted.  Officer advised of legal options.  Complainant refused to press charges.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Dallas L. Ward, 22, of Hope, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct, Faulty Equipment and No Liability Insurance.

March 25, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 419 near the Potter community of an unauthorized person on their property.  Officer advised the subject not to return to the property.

Report from walk-in complainant of problems with an ex-spouse concerning non-payment of child support.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested was Stacy D. Jones, 38, of Wickes, on Charges of four counts of Violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

Arrested was Bobby W. Bennett, 43, of Mena, on Charges of five counts of Violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

March 26, 2014

Report of a disturbance on Polk 234 near Cove.  Officer responded.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Polk 659 near the Board Camp community of the theft of copper and scrap metal from their residence, all valued at $500.00.  Investigation continues.

March 27, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 56 in the Nunley community of packages that were delivered to the wrong residence, which resulted in losses of $500.00.

March 28, 2014

Report from complainant on Hwy 270 West near the Acorn community of the fraudulent use of a debit card, totaling losses at $467.82.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Daniel J. Peikert, 40, of Mena, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Leslie N. Gillaspy, 36, of Wickes, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

March 29, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 76 West near Mena of the theft of a motorcycle, valued at $2,000.00.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested was Dustin S. Carnes, 20, of Mena, on a Charge of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Report from complainant on Polk 32 near Cove of receiving harassing phone calls.  Officer contacted the subject and advised them to stop the harassment.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

March 30, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 136 near Cove of two broken window panes, causing $50.00 in damages.  Officer determined the damage to be accidental.

Arrested was Jerry D. Higgins, 39, of Mena, on Warrants for Violation of an Order of Protection and Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was David T. Sinyard, 38, of Mena, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct and Battery 3rd Degree.

Arrested was Krishna K. Turner, 22, of Vandervoort, on a Charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.
