Polk County Sheriff’s Department – May 12-18, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of May 12 – May 18, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

May 12, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 76 East near Mena of the theft of prescription medications from a purse, totaling losses at $150.00.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Daniel A. Chaney, 18, of Mena, on a Warrant for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

May 13, 2014

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 54 near Mena.  Suspect fled the residence before officers arrived.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a physical altercation on Horseshoe Lane near the Potter community.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

May 15, 2014

Arrested was Wesley P. Morgan, 36, of Whitesboro, OK, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Arrested was Jerry W. Dourney, 33, of Smithville, OK, on a Warrant for Domestic Battery 3rd Degree.

May 16, 2014

Report of a physical altercation between two juveniles led to a 12-year-old Mena male and a 15-year-old Mena male each being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The juveniles were released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

May 17, 2014

Report of a domestic disturbance on Highway 88 East near the Yocana community led to the arrest of Aljawaun J. Cole, 23, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Register a Vehicle.

Also arrested was Lynsey J. Smith, 20, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

May 18, 2014

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 48 near the Alder Springs community.  Both subjects refused to press charges.  One of the parties was transported from the residence.

Arrested was Tyler R. Prine, 49, of Cove, on Warrants for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Delivery of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Philip M. Cunningham, 42, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License, Careless/Prohibited Driving and Refusal to Submit.

 Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked one vehicle accident this week.

Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 31 Incarcerated Inmates; 19 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility, of which 6 are currently out of jail on a monitoring system.
