Polk County Sheriff’s Department – September 2 – 8, 2013

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of September 2 – September 8, 2013.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

September 2, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 689 near Mena of an unauthorized person on their property.  Arrested was Terry D. Spurling, 51, of Mena, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

Report from a Mena woman that her 13-year-old granddaughter and a vehicle were missing.  The juvenile and vehicle were later located.  A Juvenile Citation was issued for Disorderly Conduct and the female was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from a Mena complainant of a custody issue with an ex-spouse.  Officer advised complainant that the issue was of a civil nature.

Report from complainant on Polk 136 near Cove of a person being threatened.  Officers responded, one of the parties agreed to leave the residence.

Arrested was Donavan T. Hunt, 22, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

September 3, 2013

Report from a Hatfield woman of problems with her 14-year-old daughter led to the female being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The female was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

September 4, 2013

Report from complainant on Cardinal Lane near Mena of an unauthorized person in their residence led to the arrest of Loyd D. Bolton, 43, of Mena, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

Arrested was Clifford G. Crossfield, 33, of Paragould, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Report from complainant on Polk 56 near the Nunley community of receiving a harassing text message.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

September 5, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 199 near the Cherry Hill community of the theft of a lawn mower valued at $1,000.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 37 near the Potter community that a neighbor’s dog had killed his chickens, all valued at $48.00.  Officer spoke with dog’s owner, who agreed to pay for the damages and to deal with the dog issue.

Report from complainant on Polk 280 near Cove of the break-in and theft of electronics and household goods, all valued at $3,622.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from a Mena woman of her family being threatened.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Miranda R. Harris, 33, of Wickes, on two Warrants for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was Kelly B. Davis, 50, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with Reporting Requirements.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Lacie E. Morrell, 25, of Wickes, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was Kelly D. Thompson, 32, of Mena, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

September 6, 2013

Report from complainant on Highway 4 West near Cove of a person on their property that refused to leave.  Officer escorted the subject to another residence.

Report of an accident on Polk 63 near the Yocana community led to the arrest of Alan K. Rector, 38, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of an Instrument of Crime.

Report from complainant on Polk 19 near Cove of an unauthorized person on their property causing damages to the property.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from walk-in complainant of being harassed by a neighbor.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Polk 125 near the Rocky community of the theft of a deer feeder, valued at $150.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 710 near the Potter community of the theft of a firearm valued at $700.00.  Investigation continues.

September 7, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 402 near Cove of the theft of a heater, ac unit and electronics, all valued at $4,299.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 31 near Cove of a missing ATV that an individual was allegedly working on.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Jennifer K. Pierce, 31, of Van Buren, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report from a Mena woman that her children are receiving unwanted text messages.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Treasure Lane near the Acorn community.  One of the parties left the residence for the evening.

September 8, 2013

Report from Polk County Detention Center of problems with an inmate.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a fight in the Hatfield area led to the arrest of Floyd T. Frederick, 40, of Hatfield, on Charges of DWI, No Liability Insurance and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License; Megan R. Frederick, 23, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Assault 3rd Degree; and Brian K. Metcalf, 44, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

RETRACTION: The Sheriff’s Log for the week of July 29 – August 4, 2013 reported that Rebecca A. James, 27, of Mena, was arrested on a Body Attachment Warrant.  This entry was a mistake made due to a typographical error.  Ms. James was not arrested, nor was she in this jurisdiction during that time frame.  The Sheriff’s Office would like to apologize for any inconveniences that this error may have caused.
