Polk County Sheriff’s Log

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer for the week of June 22, 2026 – June 28, 2026. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent, and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

 

June 22, 2026

Deputies were dispatched to a business on Hwy 71 S near Hatfield in reference to a trespasser.

Christobal Purvis, 44, of Des Moines, IA was arrested on a warrant for Contempt of Court for Failure to Pay Fines.

Deputies responded to a report of damaged mailboxes on Polk 52 near Mena.

Ralph Hobbs, 33, of Mena was arrested for Contempt of Court.

Dennis Powell, 55, of Mena was arrested on a Failure to Appear Warrant.

 

June 23, 2026

Deputies responded to a report of harassment.

Danny Haynes, 49, of Mena was arrested by an officer with the Arkansas State Police on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

 

June 24, 2026

Melissa Hartin, 50, of Mena was arrested on a Failure to Appear Warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to a business near Cove in reference to an incident leading to the arrest of Benjamin Moon, 68, of Cove on a charge of Criminal Trespass.

 

June 25, 2026

Tracy Suire, 36, of Hot Springs was arrested by an officer with Probation Parole to be held.

Sherrill Hammonds, 34, of Hatfield was arrested by an officer with the Arkansas State Police on charges of DWI, Reckless Driving, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

 

June 26, 2026

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Tims Lane near Hatfield in reference to a theft.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Polk 39 near Mena in reference to a break-in.

 

June 27, 2026

Deputies were dispatched to W Johnson Avenue near Hatfield in reference to the report of a vehicle accident.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Polk 93 near Rocky in reference to a neighbor shooting toward a residence. Information has been forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney for further consideration.

Nathanial Brown, 26, of Mena was arrested on a Failure to Appear Warrant.

 

June 28, 2026

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Cajun Lane near Big Fork in reference to damaged mailboxes.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Polk 199 near Cherry Hill in reference to an unattended death.

 

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked 0 vehicle accidents this week.

Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 42 Incarcerated Inmates with 7 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility.
