BY U.S. SENATOR MARK PRYOR –
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today announced that the Galla Rock Rural Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $237,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program to purchase a new pumper/engine for its fire truck.
“Local firefighters are on the front lines in the effort to keep our communities safe,” Pryor said. “This grant will help ensure the Galla Rock Rural Volunteer Fire Department has the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively and protect local residents.”
“These funds will provide Galla Rock volunteer firefighters the tools they need to better respond to emergencies and protect Arkansas families,” Boozman said. “This investment is important to the safety of our first responders and our citizens.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides fire departments and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) organizations with the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel. During Fiscal Year 2013, DHS AFG Program awarded approximately $288.8 million directly to local fire departments and EMS organizations.
