Rich Mountain Community College will soon open its doors to the new School of Cosmetology located in the Northside Shopping Center that will train 25 students for the field of Cosmetology under the instruction of 25-year cosmetology instructor veteran Tonya Boydstun.
Boydstun is excited about the opening, “I’ve taught in seven different states and this school is by far the most well equipped…in every way with all of the computerization using the latest technology,” she said.
Entry is competitive with the school receiving 45 applicants for the 25 slots available. Boydstun said that two students have relocated to Mena from Danville to attend the program.
Because all of the students will be starting with zero hours, Boydstun estimates that it will be November before they are able to offer services to the public. Upon that time, services will be provided Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4: 30 p.m.
An open house showcasing the stellar new facility will be held in September.
