Mena Police Department has a new member in their ranks, Safetypup. In an effort to keep kids safe, the lovable puppy mascot will be helping the department teach children the importance of safety. Throughout the year, the department will be promoting prevention with talks and presentations, and the children of the community will begin to meet Safetypup at their school, local events, and tours of the department.
Wearing a helmet when riding a bike, saying NO to drugs, and being aware of strangers are just a few of the prevention topics that Mena Police Department wants children and their parents to know more about.
They hope Safetypup will help them get kids’ attention so they learn more of these valuable lessons. Mena Police Chief Brandon Martin said, “This mascot is great for kids. They love it and it creates a great opportunity to connect with them.”
