(WASHINGTON) White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, whose tenure was marked by a breakdown in regular press briefings and questions about the administration’s credibility as well as her own, will be leaving her post at the end of June, to return to her home state of Arkansas, in an announcement made by President Donald Trump on Thursday.
Sanders, is one of Trump’s closest and most trusted White House aides and one of the few remaining on staff who worked on his campaign. She is also the daughter of former Arkansas Governor and former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.
Trump suggested her as a future candidate for Arkansas governor. No indication was given by Sanders if that was a possibility or for what she will be doing in the immediate future.
