Mena City Council met in a special called meeting Monday to expand the scope of the South Mena Street improvements. Council members approved to extend the milling and overlay from Holly Street to Pine Street at an estimated cost of $15,630. They also approved to add parking and center-line striping through the services of Kevin Tucker Striping at an estimated cost of $5,000.
Once crews are finished with Mena Street, they plan to relocate to Morgan Street for overlay. The street, which has experienced significant traffic increase since the opening of the new Mena High School, was widened approximately 2 ft and is scheduled to receive new overlay from Ransom Road to Bus Barn Road.
