The Polk County Veteran’s Service Office has found a new home after spending years in the basement of the courthouse. Effective December 1st, the Veteran’s Service Office is now located in the Polk County Office Complex (the Old Hospital), at 606 Pine Street, Suite 113.
Polk County Judge Brandon Ellison said the new location would better serve veterans. “At the new location, there is better parking and no stairs. This will make it easier access for everyone and especially those who had difficulty getting to the courthouse basement office. I think the move will be much more accommodating for our veterans and that is very important to me.”
Ellison also said there were a few key volunteers that helped make the transition easier. “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the American Legion, Dewayne Denmon, Doug Golden, and Ila Bass for their assistance in relocating the VSO.”
The Veteran’s Service Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Their phone number is 479-394-8148.
