Fresh Start Pregnancy Resource Center held a Walk for Life on Saturday, April 15, at Janssen Park and raised more than $7,500 that will benefit expectant mothers and fathers with a variety of resources at the center.
To raise money for the event, registered participants asked for pledges from family, friends, and businesses, and then walked two miles the day of the event. In total, the pledges garnered $7,732.25. Candace Riner, Interim Director for Fresh Start, and lead organizer of the event, said, “We are grateful for the overwhelming support from our sponsors and those who walked and gathered pledges for our first Walk for Life. I want to thank each participant and the businesses and organizations who gave to life and to support the ongoing work of Fresh Start Pregnancy Resource Center in Mena.”
A traveling trophy was awarded to the church who gathered the most donations. This year’s trophy went to Mena First Baptist Church for raising $2,024.20. Grace Bible Church came in second for $560 and The Crossing Raised $390, coming in third.
Top Individuals were Connie Beck with $1,500; Pam Pena (FBC Mena Team) with $1,105; and Janice Shull (Grace Bible Church Team) with $500.
