Mena Fire Department responded to a call just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday concerning an 18-wheeler that was on fire. The driver was traveling on Hwy. 375 West when he noticed smoke in his mirrors that appeared to be coming from the truck. The driver thought it may be coming from the brakes. He entered the drive next to the former Mid-South Wood Products office location and upon pulling over, realized the smoke was coming from under the hood of the cab.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the cab was fully engulfed. Firefighters were quick to extinguish the flames, however the cab is a total loss. The driver appeared to be uninjured.
