[MENA] The Ouachita Arts and Crafts Guild will present the 26th Annual Mountain Fest this weekend, on Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day. The event will be held inside the 4,000 sq. ft. CMA Iron Mountain Facility, six miles south of Mena on Hwy. 71 S.
Back in the “good old days” before this world became so commercial people used things in their daily lives that were handmade. Their homes, clothing, quilts, furniture, and toys were made with loving hard working hands. People took pride in their work. Some of that work has become works of art.
Each year, crafters come from near and far to display their artistic talents with the public and fellow craftsmen. Mountain Fest is more than “just another craft show”. It is a family-friendly event where folks gather from all walks of life to visit, shop, enjoy good food, and much more. All items are handmade and come from vendors across several states, each with their own unique works of gourds, woodworks, pottery, doll clothes, and more. Food vendors will also be on site.
Demos will be on display Friday and Saturday for Spinning, Dreamcatchers, Hot Dog Pillowcases, and Rug Twining.
There will be a live radio broadcast for the chance to win $100 on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. as well as a chance to win the Annual Mountain Fest Handmade Quilt. Chances for the quilt will be sold both days and are $1 each, 6 for $5, or 20 for $10. The quilt drawing will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday. Several hourly drawings will also be held both days for door prizes donated by local merchants and Mountain Fest vendors. You do not have to be present to win any of the drawings however, you must come to the festival to fill out the drawing tickets.
