BY LEANN DILBECK –
Power is being restored after Mena residents awoke to a city-wide power outage Saturday morning, March 14, and according to AEP’s website, the outage is still affecting approximately 2,000 customers, including residents and businesses.
We have been able to confirm that all outages are AEP and no Rich Mountain Electric Co-Operatives customers have been affected. AEP representatives will not respond to our requests for an explanation of the outage.
Officials are saying full restoration is expected by 12:30 p.m. today but until that time, officials are asking all motorists to exercise extreme caution at main intersections along Hwy 71 where traffic lights are out.
