The Cossatot Eagles hosted the Mena Bearcats Tuesday, January 17th, at Cossatot High School.
Both teams went back-and-forth in the first quarter before Mena was able to escape with a 12-11 lead going into the second. The Bearcats extended their one point lead into a ten point lead in the second, as Mena outscored the Eagles 19-10.
Conner Harvey led the Bearcats in scoring at halftime with 11 points, while Cody Baker led Cossatot with 6 points.
Cossatot started off the third quarter on a 13-6 run, forcing the Bearcats to call a timeout with 4:33 left in the quarter. Following the timeout, the Eagles continued a nice 9-6 run to tie the game, 43-43, going into the final quarter of play. The Bearcats shot the ball really well in the fourth, never allowing Cossatot to take over the game. When the final buzzer rang, the Mena Bearcats walked away victors against the Cossatot Eagles by a score of 63-53.
Cross Hughes led Mena in scoring with 18 points, as Conner Harvey added on 16 points, Blake Seals and Austin Wagner each had 6 points, Nick Myers – 5, Darius Sims and Carson Cannon – 4, Zeb Wilson – 3, and Brock Strother – 1.
