Polk County is planning a Severe Weather Awareness Day in conjunction with Arkansas Severe Weather Week, February 26th – March 4th.
On March 1st, at the Polk County Extension Education Center at 211 DeQueen Street, between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., Polk County residents can drop by and bring your weather radio for set up assistance and receive free weather awareness information. They will also give away free weather radios, while supplies last. Weather radios are limited to one per address and for Polk County residents only.
Also on March 1st, a statewide tornado drill will be held at 10 a.m. If severe weather is expected during that time, the scheduled backup time/date for the tornado drill is 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 2nd.
