Kinnun presents DAR Program

The James K. Polk Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) met in the Polk County Library in Mena, January 17, 2019. Featured speaker was their own Honorary Past Regent, present Registrar, and Co-Chair of the State Lineage Research Committee, Dotty Kinnun. She presented historical information about the DAR and their wearing of the “DAR Insignia”.

The next meeting of the Mena area James K. Polk Chapter will be February 21, 2019, at 5:30 pm in the Lime Tree Restaurant after eating together (dutch treat).   The speaker will be Kathy Rusert who will present a program on “Bringing It Back: Cemetery Monument Preservation, Maintenance and Restoration”. The “Good Citizens” awards will also be presented to three high school seniors form Mena, Cossatot River, and Caddo Hills. Ladies interested in becoming a member of the DAR are welcomed.

Membership in the NSDAR is a unique opportunity to honor one’s lineage and heritage as a descendent of a patriot of the American Revolution. Eligible applicants interested in participating in the historic preservation, educational and patriotic activities of the National Society are welcome. An applicant for membership must be no less than 18 years of age and must prove direct lineal bloodline descent form an ancestor who aided the fight for American independence.
