Fayetta Mountain passed away April 28, 2019 at the age of 87 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Faye grew up in Mena and became a proud military wife when she married George Mountain in 1955. Her favorite deployment while in the military was Italy, where they lived for three years. Faye enjoyed the outdoors and doing crafts. Upon their retirement, the couple settled on Rich Mountain where they operated a laundromat and gas station. She loved the mountains and especially fishing in their pond.
Because of her failing health, she relocated to Fort Smith in 2014 under the loving care of Sharon & Gary Loop. Faye spent her remaining years as a resident at Ashton Place. She made many friends there, and she was a volunteer in the activity department where she took part in Drums Alive, Bean Bag Toss, and everything else that she could physically do. Faye loved her nurses and aids.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, George; her mother & father, Melvie & Charles Barnard; her sister, Flon Springfield; her brothers: Hiram & Claude James.
Funeral will be on Wednesday, May 1st at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM. The funeral will be under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
Memorials can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the PCDC.
