The 2013 Polk County 4-H Achievement Banquet was held Saturday, October 5, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Mena. Over 150 people enjoyed the excellent meal that consisted of brisket, chicken, rolls, and a potluck of side dishes and desserts. Nine of the eleven county clubs were represented. The clubs provided table decorations and the Lead 4 Life 4-H Club hung streamers and balloons.
The program included a chance for various 4-H members and Cloverbuds to share some of their 4-H experiences from the last year. A slideshow of pictures reinforced the wide scope of activities that Polk County 4-H provided to youth throughout the year.
Awards were given for participants of the 2013 O’Rama events and for each of the 4-H Record Books that were submitted in January. Special awards went to:
Junior Member of the Year—Elizabeth Hachtel
Senior Member of the Year—Caroline Ezell
Volunteer Leader of the Year—Janet Watkins
Club Spirit Award – Lead 4 Life 4-H Club
Community Service Award – Mighty Oaks 4-H Club
Promotion Award of the Year – Lead 4 Life
Club of the Year – All Around
Graduating 4-H’er, Peter Gandy received an engraved 4-H medallion in recognition of his years spent in 4-H.
