The Acorn Lady Tigers qualified for the regional tournament this week in Junction City after securing a must win contest last week at the 7-2A Conference Tournament in Horatio.
Acorn’s girls entered the conference tournament as the number four seed, and needed a victory Tuesday, February 12th over Dierks to qualify for regionals.
The Lady Tigers successfully advanced with a victory over the Lady Outlaws. Acorn’s girls ran into the eventual conference tournament champion – The Cossatot River Lady Eagles in Thursday’s semi-finals. Cossatot River defeated Acorn 65-50.
Acorn’s girls will be the number four seed from the 7-2A Conference in this week’s 2A-South Regional Tournament at Junction City. Coach Mike Jackson’s Lady Tigers, now 16-14 on the season, will battle the Spring Hill Lady Bears in opening round action Wednesday at 4:00.
The Acorn boys entered the conference tournament at Horatio last week as the number three seed, also needing one win to advance to regionals. However, the Tigers ran into a red hot Foreman team in the February 12th quarter-finals. Foreman ended Acorn’s season with a high-scoring 96-85 victory. The surprising Gators, the sixth seed, won four games in six nights to claim the conference tournament championship.
The Tigers finish the year with a 12-18 record.
