Annual School Election to be Held This Tuesday

There are no contested board races in any of the school districts in Polk County. The proposed millage rate for each school district is the same as their current rate.

Even though there are no contested board races and no millage issues, schools are still required by law to conduct an annual school election.

Because there are no contested board races, and no millage increase issues the Cossatot River School Board and the Ouachita River School Board have voted to have their elections conducted by early and absentee voting only. This means there will be NO polling places open on Election Day in the Ouachita River School District or the Cossatot River School District. Voters from these two school districts that wish to vote will need to vote during early voting or contact the County Clerk’s office to request an absentee ballot.

Mena School District will have one polling place open on Election Day. The Mena School district voters will be able to vote on Election Day at the Mena Fire Station #2 on Mena Street. Mena School District voters may also vote early or by requesting an absentee ballot from the County Clerk’s office.

The hours for early voting will be Tuesday, September 10 through Monday, September 16 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the County Clerk’s office. Voters that wish to vote by absentee ballot should call the County Clerk’s office at 479-394-8123.
