David Omer Riley, age 40 of Mena, was arrested Saturday, May 14, 2016 by officers with the Mena Police Department following an investigation. Riley was arrested on charges of one count Sexual Grooming of a Child and one count of Internet Stalking of a Child, both felonies.
According to Arkansas statutes, a person commits Sexually Grooming a Child if he or she knowingly shows a child thirteen years of age or younger, a visual or print medium depicting sexually explicit conduct with the purpose to entice, induce, or groom the child to engage in sexual intercourse, sexually explicit conduct, or deviate sexual activity.
Internet Stalking of a Child is defined as a person 21-years of age or older, who knowingly uses a computer online service, internet service, or local internet bulletin board service to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a child [known or unknown to be] fifteen years of age or younger in an effort to arrange a meeting with the child for the purpose of engaging in sexual intercourse, sexually explicit conduct, or deviate sexual activity.
Riley is currently being held in the Polk County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. No other details are available at this time, as the Mena Police Department further investigates the matter. As a note, anyone listed in this article is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
