
She was born April 17, 1936 in Mena, to the late Clarence James McMellon and the late Mary Jewell Garrison McMellon. Betty worked for 24 years at Waffle House where she enjoyed spending time with her loyal friends. Betty enjoyed hobbies that include raising flowers and riding four-wheelers. Betty loved sitting on her porch with her coffee and feeding the hummingbirds. Although, Betty’s greatest joy of all was when her children, grandchildren, and extended family would come together to play music. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survivors are sons, Arnold Brown of Mena, Arkansas, Rick Brown of Pensacola, Florida, Mark Brown and wife Betty of Mena, Arkansas, Mike Brown and wife Julie of Mena, Arkansas; daughter, Brenda Vo of Mena, Arkansas; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy McMellon; special friend, Grady Davis of Mena, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary McMellon; her husband, James Leon Brown, Sr.; one son, James “Butch” Brown, Jr.; seven brothers, Dayton McMellon, Winton McMellon, J.C. McMellon, Harold McMellon, Arlon McMellon, Jerry McMellon; one sister, Pauline Ferguson.
Visitation of family and friends will be Monday October 16, 2017 from 5 – 8 p.m.
Mrs. Betty Brown will be sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
