
She was born on July 26, 1939 in Haworth, Oklahoma to the late James Everett Fairless and the late Ruthie Low Gibson. She was married to Bob Varner on November 17, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Betty was a homemaker and was active in the Hatfield Church of Christ and the Home Extension Club. She was also a member of the Hatfield Lioness Association. Mrs. Betty was the owner of a grooming salon called the Purple Poodle Parlor in Hatfield. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be lovingly remembered always.
She is survived by husband, Bobby Dale Varner of the home; children, Rodney Varner of Hatfield, Arkansas, Randy Varner and wife Rhonda of Hatfield, Arkansas; grandchildren, Shevy Thompson and husband Josh of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kaely Skelton and husband Travis of Altus, Oklahoma, Ariel Varner, Sarah Horton and husband Randal of Mena; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Stuart, Barbara Whisenhunt; dear friend, Gladys “Tootie” Henson; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Everett and Ruthie Low Fairless; grandson, Dustin Todd Mahaffey; and 14 siblings.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hatfield Church of Christ with Brother Kevin Randolph and Brother Ron Broussard. Interment follows in Six Mile Cemetery at Hatfield. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers are Russell Mabry, Travis Skelton, Josh Thompson, Randal Horton, John Fairless, and Bradley Grogan. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Varner, Sammy Varner, Jr., Clarence Hardy, Matt Walston and Everett Fairless.
