Mena Art Gallery and I would like to invite children (ages 6 through 12) to join me on the second Saturday of each month, from 1 to 3 pm, for art class.
Boys and girls are both welcome. Class cost is only $2 per child (to help cover cost of supplies). Space is limited to ten children per class so that I can give each child individual attention. Registration (either by phone at 479-394-3880 or in person at the gallery, 607 Mena Street) is required.
As the holiday season approaches, classes will focus on art themed for the holidays. Give your parents a break and come get creative with us.
I am a member of the gallery and of the Ouachita Writers’ Guild. I have experience teaching summer Head Start programs and am the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren who enjoy designing art projects when they come for visits.
I worked as a commercial artist in the seventies. I am a master florist and have taught classes at Cossatot Community College in DeQueen and several locations in Mena, including the art gallery.
I grew up in an artistic family (my 86-year-old father is a professional artist, illustrator, and frequently published writer). My mother was an amazing textile artist.
I am a very imaginative individual who experiments in assorted media and often likes to mix them up. On occasions I enter area shows, but mostly I create art because of the pleasure it gives me to express myself and the joy it brings to those around me. I teach children’s classes to share that joy.
