Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) released the following statement in response to today’s passage of H.R. 2218, the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act:
“Today the House passed legislation to prevent excessive regulation of our energy producers. As many Arkansans have experience firsthand, President Obama’s EPA has issued more rules than any previous Administration; blatantly disregarding the damage it does to our economy.
“Time and time again, Arkansas business owners and energy producers have told me federal government red-tape is getting in the way of their success. The Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act will allow states to craft their own coal waste management programs in accordance with minimum federal standards. This empowers states like Arkansas to find solutions that work for their needs and protects them from more regulation and government overreach. “
