Derrick graduated from Wickes High School and was a member of the Wickes Church of the Nazarene. Derrick was a loving, kind-hearted soul who brought joy and laughter to everyone and everywhere he went. He enjoyed playing pranks on people and his favorite time of year was in the fall when it was his birthday and Halloween. He had many health issues but despite all of his problems he showed people how to love life in the little things. He has left a Derrick size hole in all our hearts and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Reba Jenkins.
Derrick is survived by his parents, James and Vicki Jenkins of Wickes; his three sisters, Heather Smothers and husband, Dalton of Wickes, Amber Jenkins and fiancée, Jimmy McFadden of Wickes and Rochelle Barrett and husband, Kyle of Wickes; paternal grandparents, Lacey and Joy Jenkins of Wickes; maternal grandparents, Bob and Carol Ray of Mena; six nieces and nephews, Gage McFadden, Roanin Barrett, Kaydence Murphy, Haylen Jenkins, Timbree Jenkins and Meadow Barrett; a special caregiver, Cynthia Oglesby of Wickes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
