The Ed Stevenson Scholarship was established by Ed’s children, John and Melinda Stevenson of Houston, Texas, Phil and Leigh Ann Stevenson of Memphis, Tennessee, and Chris and Anne Stevenson Glankler of Memphis, Tennessee, and his wife, Dorothy Ann of Mena, Arkansas, to honor Ed on his 70th birthday. Ed has always been a supporter of the Van-Cove Schools and the people of South Polk County. He was born and raised in Polk County and is a 1954 graduate of Van-Cove High School.
The Ed Stevenson Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and is awarded annually to a student who is active in school and community activities and who exhibits leadership qualities in these activities. The student must also maintain a grade point average of at least 3.25.
This year’s recipient is Cheyenne Bell, a senior at Cossatot River High School. Cheyenne is the daughter of Hershel and Pamela Bell, and she has been active in FFA, National Honor Society, Beta Club, FCCLA, Student Council, ETS, FCS, and also played basketball. She plans to attend Rich Mountain Community college and major in Agricultural Education/Agricultural Business.
