Polk County Judge Brandon Ellison was recently reappointed to the Arkansas Workforce Development Board. His term will extend until May of 2020. There are around 30 members that make up the board, which is comprised of business and education leaders from throughout the state. One mandate of the longstanding board is the requirement of one Mayor and one County Judge. The board considers proposals from the state workforce staff on policy and programs.
“The new makeup of this board, under Governor Asa Hutchinson’s administration, is a little more conservative and hopefully we can incentivize work and training in order to receive certain benefits. It is a challenge though, as there is federal money involved and many strings are attached,” said Ellison.
He is looking forward to serving another term on the board and considers it an honor to do so. “Anytime a Governor of our state asks for your service, it is an honor. I will do my best to represent the values that we hold in Polk County. I expect the people that this board is trying to help, will see the wisdom of helping themselves. The payment of benefits offered to citizens through workforce are subsidized by hardworking productive people that rightfully expect these benefits to be earned,” Ellison said.
