The 2017 Polar Plunge was held on Saturday, February 25, at Janssen Park to raise money for Arkansas Special Olympics. Elizabeth Thompkins, organizer of the annual event, said $1365.30 was collected the day of the event with the Hill Billy Healers earning Most Money Raised by a Team. “Donations are still being received online and through mail so I do not have a final total yet,” Thompkins reported.
Other event winners at the Polar Plunge included the Three Little Ducks for Best Costumes and Most Money Raised by an Individual was awarded to Tabitha Levering.
“We are very appreciative of all the money donated and the time spent by the plungers collecting the money. We have 15 volunteers that continuously help raise donations and awareness for our athletes.”
