Holly Harshman Elementary School staff and students participated in Dr. Seuss Read Across America Day! Many district employees, parents and community members participated by reading to our students. Read Across America is an event created by the National Education Association. Now, in it’s 17th year, it is celebrated nationwide to encourage children to, not only read, but to enjoy reading. The event is held on or around Dr. Suess’ birthday, March 2nd. Besides reading challenges, some of the activities encouraged are dress-up days, games, songs, and character parades. Approximately 45 million readers across the United States join the fun each year. Pictured are some of the students who celebrated by dressing up as their favorite Dr. Suess character.
