The James K. Polk Chapter NSDAR celebrated the U.S. Constitution during their regular meeting September 17, 2020. The Keynote speaker was Dennis Cunningham, a retired Mena American History teacher. His presentation was both entertaining and informative about things one might not know regarding the writing of the United States Constitution.
One of the activities of the group during Constitution Week was providing Constitution Minutes for the Pulse Multimedia Radio which were read every day during the morning show. Other community activities included art coloring and poster making in Mena Elementary Schools, classroom materials for Mena Middle School and Caddo Hills Middle School, and witnessing the mayors of both Mena and Norman signing a Proclamation for Constitution Week Sept 17-24.
Also, Mary Renick of the Polk County Library allowed the Chapter to place an informational U.S. Constitutional display board in the children’s section of the library along with bookmarks and Constitution-based coloring sheets for children.
