On Friday night, February 9th, the Cossatot River Lady Eagles and Eagles hosted Prescott for Senior Night.
In what turned out to be a very tight first half, the Lady Curley Wolves outscored Cossatot 7-6 in the first quarter. The Lady Eagles tied it up in the second, to make the score 12-12 at halftime.
Nolen led the Lady Curley Wolves with 4 points at halftime, as Gonzalez led Cossatot with 8 points.
The Lady Eagles began to pull ahead in the third, outscoring Prescott 14-8, to take a six point, 26-20, lead into the fourth and final quarter of play. Cossatot continued to extend their lead in the fourth, as their defense held the Lady Curley Wolves to zero points, while the Lady Eagles scored ten points of their own. Cossatot went on to win the game by sixteen, 36-20.
Nolen led the Prescott Lady Curley Wolves with 8 points on the night, while Roberts added on 4 points, Byers 3 points, Wiley and Rooney 2 points each, and Borrough 1 point.
Ashlen Gonzalez led the Cossatot River Lady Eagles with 16 points in the game, as Raegan Richardson scored 8 points, Rhyen Martin 7 points, Harley Dering 4 points, and Jacie Wilkerson 1 point.
In the senior boys game, the Eagles jumped out to a 5-2 lead, before Prescott ended the quarter on a 14-2 run, to lead by nine going in to second, 16-7. In the second quarter, Cossatot scored only five points, while the Curley Wolves scored seventeen points, to extend their lead to twenty-one, 33-12, at halftime.
Thompson led the Curley Wolves with 11 points at halftime, while Smith and Ralls led Cossatot with 3 points each.
Both Cossatot and the Curley Wolves scored twelve points each in the third quarter, to make the score 45-24, going into the fourth. The Eagles outscored Prescott 14-13 in the final quarter of play, but fell short in the end by twenty, 58-38.
Thompson led the Prescott Curley Wolves with 18 points, as Page and Mixon added on 9 points each, Johnson 5 points, Haynie and Barham 4 points each, Hill and Douchet 3 points each, Caldwell 2 points, and Peters 1 point.
Trenton Rosson led the Cossatot River Eagles with 8 points on the night, while Juan Trinidad and Cody Brown scored 6 points each, Brayden Smith 5 points, Gavin Ralls 3 points, and Drayvon Brock, Coy Frachiseur, Timur Shek, Kolby Frachiseur, and Martin Karate 2 points each.
This week, both the Cossatot River Lady Eagles and Eagles will compete in the 7-3A Sr. Basketball District Tournament, hosted at Cossatot River High School.
