Last Thursday night, September 21st, Mena Volleyball hosted the Charleston Tigers at the Union Bank Center.
The Junior Varsity Ladycats kicked off the night’s action in a best-of-three-sets match. In the first set, the Ladycats pulled away early and didn’t keep it close at all, winning by a score of 25-5. The Ladycats won the closer second set, 25-20, completing the 2-0 set sweep to win the match.
For the finale on Thursday night, the Mena Sr. High Ladycats took the court to take on Charleston. In the first set, both teams kept it close, but Mena was able to edge out the Tigers by three, 25-22. Charleston won the second set by a margin of eight points, tying the match at one set a piece. In the third set, the Ladycats took the match lead and defeated the Tigers by seven, 25-18. Mena finished off the Tigers in the fourth and final set, defeating Charleston by eleven, 25-14, and winning the match 3-1.
The Ladycats traveled to Lavaca on Monday, hosted the Waldron Bulldogs on Tuesday, and will travel to Booneville on Thursday, September 28th, for the “Battle of the Ladycats”. Mena will be back at home in the Union Bank Center on October 10th, as the Ladycats will host Ashdown.
