Lanny Lee Brummel

Lanny Lee Brummel, age 75, of Hatfield, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at home. He was born on Wednesday, April 9, 1941 to Gilbert and Roberta Wade Brummel in Ottawa, Kansas.

Lanny was a proud U.S. Marine, who served during Vietnam War, as well as a member of the American Legion and Free Masons. He spent thirty years as a police officer in Kansas, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. Lanny enjoyed reading, model planes and cars, fishing, and woodworking as well as country music. He loved his family and Ava, their dog. Lanny was a great story teller, a loving husband, father, brother, and a great friend and who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Andrea Brummel and Hunter Austin.

Lanny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Brummel of Hatfield, Arkansas; one son and daughter in law, Michael and Miki Brummel of Cove, Arkansas; one daughter and son in law, Lana and Roger Austin of Cove, Arkansas; one brother, Charles Brummel of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Gay Gerardo of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Amanda Dixon of Cove, Branson Austin of Lavaca, Arkansas, Erica Schwerdtfeger of Cove, Jered Austin of Cove, Jessica Green of Cove, Kaley Austin of Lavaca, Arkansas, and Alicen Austin of Cove; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield with Brother Ron Ladd officiating.  Visitation will be held, Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2- 4 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
