The Polk County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee recently attended the 2016 Farm Bureau Statewide Women’s Conference at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock, Arkansas. The theme of this year’s conference was Building Community through Service to Others.
In attendance was Polk County Women’s Committee members Darlene Roberts, Rhonda Coon, Carol Fields and Deedee Alston.
The Women’s Committee provides opportunities for women to become involved in county and state Farm Bureau organizations, events, and programs of work. As vital members of county committees, women are given opportunities to plan and implement programs and activities that stimulate interest and enthusiasm of women in the organization and its programs so they will want to assist with developing and carrying out policies that affect agriculture. They also provide opportunities for women to participate and become involved in the entire Farm Bureau program and information and education so that Farm Bureau women can attain knowledge to help solve the problems of farmers through their organization.
Revitalizing the grassroots aspect of Farm Bureau through community–based activities and programs such as Ag in the Classroom, farm tours, legislative activities, safety and health programs, and more are part of the program as well.
If you are interested in participating in this committee, contact Deedee Alston, Chairman at 479-243-6525.
The week of March 7-11 is Farmer’s Feeding Families Week. In recognition, non-perishable food items and monetary donations can be dropped off at the local Polk County Farm Bureau office and will be used to provide much needed resources to local food pantries.
