The DeQueen area has experienced a complete power outage. Scott McCloud, spokesperson for AEP/SWEPCO told The Pulse that at 4:48 a.m. this morning, all six circuits (12,000 volts and 34,000 volt power lines) in the DeQueen substation locked out, leaving about 4,700 customers in DeQueen and surrounding areas without power.
As of 8:15 a.m., power was beginning to be restored to customers but McCloud said it would take a while to bring all six circuits back online.
The cause for the outage was equipment failure on a 12,000-volt circuit in DeQueen substation.
