BY VICKY MAY – Pictured is the Mena School District Family Involvement Advisory Council kicking off their beginning of the year meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in the Mena High School Counseling Center. Mena School Building Family Involvement Coordinators/Counselors Linda Collins, Louise Durham Elementary; Vicky Maye, Holly Harshman Elementary; Leilani Rose, Mena Middle School; and Tonya Thacker, Mena High School hosted the event. It’s the council’s mission to be committed to the importance of family involvement by firmly believing that every child receives the best education possible when families and teachers work together as a team. The team is committed to offering a variety of opportunities for families to become involved which in turn opens lines of communication and builds positive relationships. All families can look forward to receiving Family Involvement Packets on each Mena School campus to provide an overview of the many avenues available to build the home and school connection.
