SUBMITTED –
Mena Regional Health System has recently celebrated another success in performance. The Emergency Department, Nursing, Radiology and Registration Clerks are collectively responsible for exceeding the 98 percent goal for EKGs performed within 15 minutes upon patient arrival. When patients present to the Emergency Department with chest pain immediate diagnosis is crucial. During the month of August, the team reached 100 percent. An EKG (electrocardiogram) is a graphic recording, produced by an electrocardiograph, of the electrical activity of the heart. It permits the detection of abnormalities in the transmission of the cardiac impulse through the heart muscle via the cardiac conduction system and serves as an important aid in the diagnosis of heart ailments. A few representatives from each contributing department are shown as they celebrated their accomplishment.
