Polk County Sheriff’s Department – September 9 -15, 2013

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of September 9 – September 15, 2013.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

September 9, 2013

Report of problems with a 14-year-old Mena male at a county government facility led to the juvenile being issued Juvenile Citations for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from walk-in complainant of the theft of a vehicle valued at $6,000.00.  Vehicle was later located on Highway 8 East near the Big Fork community, after having been wrecked.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

September 10, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 41 North in the Shady Grove community of a house that had been ransacked, and electronics and other items taken.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 68 in the Cherry Hill community that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized account, causing $408.21 in losses.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the Drug Task Force was Donnie M. Williams, 47, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Arrested was Alban R. Beckwith, 21, of Mena, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Arrested was Alicia L. Burk, 41, of Cove, on a Warrant for Theft.

September 11, 2013

Report of a disturbance between two juveniles led to a 14-year-old Wickes male being issued a Juvenile Citation for Battery 3rd Degree.

September 12, 2013

Report of a domestic disturbance at a business on Highway 375 East near Mena led to the arrest of Joseph J. Harrington, 23, of Crossett, on a Charge of Domestic Battery 3rd Degree.

Arrested was Rachel M. Jones, 36, of Mena, on a Warrant for Theft by Receiving and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Report from complainant on Polk 285 near Hatfield of persons trespassing and attempting to steal several items.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a disturbance on Highway 71 South near Wickes.  One of the parties was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

September 13, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 71 in the Yocana community of the theft of prescription medications.  Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 42 near the Potter community led to the arrest of Susan E. Soss, 52, of Anchorage, AK, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.

Report from complainant on Polk 626 near Mena of the break-in and theft of two ATVs, several tools, electronics and household goods, all valued at $25,500.00.  Arrested was Jason L. Stell, 38, of Mena, on Charges of Residential Burglary and TheftBoth ATVs and several items were recovered.

Arrested was Cecil W. Thomas, 34, of Wickes, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

September 14, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 70 in the Cherry Hill community of the theft of diesel fuel in the amount of $350.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Highway 71 South near Cove led to the arrest of Charity L. Burkett, 38, of Mena, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.

Arrested was Carrie E. Carter, 48, of Mena, on a Sevier County Warrant.

September 15, 2013

Traffic stop on Highway 71 in Mena led to the arrest of Patrick A. Green, 45, of Mena, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report from complainant on Polk 178 near Mena of damage to a windshield, totaling $500 in losses.  Investigation continues.

Traffic stop on Polk 76 East near Mena led to the arrest of Jody L. Carter, 29, of Mena, on a Charge of Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.  Also arrested was Wesley P. Morgan, 35, of Big Cedar, OK, on a Charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Report from complainant on Highway 8 West near the Shady Grove community of problems with dogs killing livestock.  Officer responded, advised all parties that the issue was a civil matter.

Report from a 16-year-old Mena youth of being threatened by another individual.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Justin Dees, 26, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.
