Polk Sheriff’s Department – December 30, 2013 – January 5, 2014

The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the weeks of December 29, 2013 – January 4, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

December 30, 2013

Traffic stop on Highway 71 North near the Acorn community led to a citation being issued to William L. Copelin, 19, of Mena, on a Charge of Reckless Driving. Additional information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a one-vehicle accident near Lake Wilhelmina. The vehicle and subjects were removed from the scene. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

December 31, 2013

Arrested was Rhonda A. Byers, 40, of Mena, on a Charge of Possessing an Instrument of Crime and Warrants for Failure to Comply with a Court Order and Probation Violation.

January 1, 2014

Arrested was Timmy R. Lane, 25, of Norman, on a Warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support.

Report from complainant on Peebles Lane near Cove of fraudulent use of a credit card, causing losses of $468.18. Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Rogers Drive in Cove of the theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, causing damages of $184.00. Investigation continues.

January 2, 2014

Report from complainant on Treasure Lane near the Acorn community of unauthorized contact between individuals. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of subjects drinking and shooting firearms at a local rifle range led to the arrest of Curtis D. Yates, 39, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of an Instrument of Crime. Also arrested was Trent A. Kimbrell, 39, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

Report from complainant on Polk 23 near Cove of damage done to a camper by thrown gravel from a vehicle. Owner of the vehicle agreed to pay for damages.

Arrested was Albert J. Watson, 38, of Mena, on a Warrant for two counts of Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

January 3, 2014

Arrested was Reginna L.P. Pyron, 33, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of an Instrument of Crime.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Ronnie L. Watts, Jr., 33, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication, Careless/Prohibited Driving and No Driver’s License.

Arrested was Tammy D. Tomblin, 32, of Mena, on Warrants for Failure to Appear and Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Pedro Delgado-Marias, 23, of Wickes, on Charges of DWI, Speeding and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.

January 4, 2014

Report from a business on Highway 71 South in Cove of the break-in and theft of dishes, household goods and a cash register, totaling losses at $150.00. Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 267 near Vandervoort. One of the parties was advised not to return to the property.

Report from complainant on Highway 246 West near Hatfield of vandalism to a vehicle, causing damages of $500.00. Investigation continues.

January 5, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 53 near Mena of vandalism to a vehicle, causing damages of $800.00. Investigation continues.

Report from walk-in complainant of problems with an ex-spouse regarding custody issues. Officer advised complainant of legal options.

Report of a disturbance at the Polk County Detention Center resulted in Ronnie L. Watts, Jr., 33, of Mena, being issued a citation for Battery 3rd Degree. Arrested were Jason E. Tomblin, 35, and Jarrell R. Czarnetzki, 21, both of Mena, each on a Charge of Battery 2nd Degree.

Report from a Hatfield woman of a runaway 14-year-old male. The juvenile was found, transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and later released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked four vehicle accidents this week.
