The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the weeks of December 29, 2013 – January 4, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
December 29, 2013
Several stolen items were recovered at a local laundromat. The items included bankcards and a driver’s license. The owner of the license indicated that the items were taken from her car during the previous night. Her wallet and more credit cards were still missing. Some of the recovered items did not belong to the same victim. Officers are attempting to find their owner. Suspects have been arrested in these break-ins.
Michael W. Tarkington, 44, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure-to-appear on a charge of having no proof of insurance. He posted a cash bond and has been was released.
December 30, 2013
A local woman reported that her estranged boyfriend had assaulted her. Case is pending.
Daniel Chaney, 18, of Mena was charged with possession of an instrument of crime and theft by receiving after an incident on a Mena street.

December 31, 2013
A local man reported someone had broken into his vehicle and had stolen ammunition. Case pending.
Daniel Chaney, 18, of Mena was charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, five counts of felony breaking or entering, and five counts of theft of property. Also charged in the incident with five counts of felony breaking or entering and five counts of theft of property was Nathan Copelin, 18, of Mena. Kyle Page, 18, of Mena was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant at a local residence.
Officers responded to an alarm call at a local utility company. An employee had inadvertently set off the alarm. The area was secure.
Saduceo Hernandez-Ruiz, 28, of Mena was charged with DWI, having no driver’s license and careless driving after officers were called to a local residence regarding a vehicle damaging a house. Also charged in the incident with public intoxication was Graciano Ruiz-Diaz, 35, also of Mena.
Michael Trivette, 22, of Mena was served an outstanding warrant for failure to pay restitution.

Rhonda Ann Byers, 40, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay fines and court costs.
January 1, 2014
A local man reported that the break lines on his vehicle had been cut. Case is pending further investigation.
January 2, 2014
A 16-year-old Mena girl was cited for theft by receiving. She was released to her mother.
Gregg Michael Stanga, 40, of Mena was arrested on two warrants from the Polk County sheriff’s office.
Albert J. Watson, 37, of Mena was arrested on three outstanding warrants.
January 3, 2014
A local man reported that an electrician he has hired to work for him is being harassed by a neighbor. Case is pending.
Jeffrey Doyle Dorsey, 37, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sebastian County.
January 4, 2014
A local woman reported that a dog she was fostering had bitten her. Animal control will take possession of the dog.
A Polk County man reported that someone had taken his class ring from the restroom at a local retail store. He had washed his hands and had removed the ring. He failed to put the ring back on his finger, and when he realized it was gone, he went back to the restroom, but the ring was missing. Case is pending.
Officers completed an additional 12 reports and worked 10 accidents.
