“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
Ever had that dream that you were falling… and falling… and falling… and there never seems to be a bottom? Always heard that if you hit the bottom you would die, which leaves me wondering, how on earth anyone would know that? Regardless, when you wake, you are literally exhausted from, of course, trying to not hit the ground, because even if you don’t die, it will hurt, right?
The reality of life is that there is a bottom. And we do, occasionally, hit that ground. Yes, it can be painful but we must always find hope in knowing that it is through those times that our relationship can, if we allow it, deepen with our Lord. It can increase our dependence on Him and He uses those situations to sanctify our lives so that we can look and act more like Him. But the key is being honest with Him – we don’t have to keep the strong ‘front’ with him. Just as the scripture says, we can just lay it all down before Him and pray for Him to carry us through, always honoring Him in how we live.
