As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Arkansas, the U of A Cooperative Extension Service, Polk County Office of Emergency Service, and Daniel Communications have partnered to bring Polk County Severe Weather Day to you on Wednesday, March 1 from 1 to 6 pm at the Polk County Extension Education Center at 211 DeQueen Street in Mena.
There will be educational material on hand to help educate you of actions to take during severe weather. The first 100 Polk County families attending will receive a free Midland WR120 programmable weather radio. You must be present to receive a radio. These will be given away on a first come, first served basis to Polk County residents. Only one per address.
The radios have been made possible by the generosity of our area businesses and individuals. Over $3000 was pledged and collected to make these radios possible. A list of donors will be available at the event. Chris Daniel with Daniel Communication will be programming the radios so that they will receive notices specific to our area.
There will be folks on hand to answer questions and help you be prepared in the event of a severe weather outbreak.
For more information, contact the County Extension Office at 479-394-6018. The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action institution.
