The Quality Management System (QMS) of Sterling Machinery Co. Inc. has been certified to conform to the International Quality System Standard ISO 9001:2008 for the provision of precision CNC machined components for a wide range of industrial applications.
The certification process began in an effort to ensure excellent and continuously improving service to customers. This required all employees to think about how best to serve both internal and external customers, and then work together to determine the best way to manage their systems to support those goals.
For a company to be considered for ISO certification, it must demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products that both meet customer specifications and comply with regulatory requirements. In addition, the company must aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of its systems, including the dedication to continuous improvement of their organization and its processes. All of these factors are tested through a detailed audit.
Sterling Machinery Company Inc. developed and implemented a Quality Management System in order to document the company’s best business practices, better satisfy the requirements and expectations of its customers and improve the overall management of the company.
Rodney Hicks, ISO Management Representative for Sterling Machinery, stated, “It’s important to point out that we did not implement ISO 9001 because we were forced to by customer mandates.” He further explained that most companies that pursue certification often do so because they would otherwise run the risk of losing a key client. “We voluntarily chose to improve our internal systems to better satisfy our customers.”
Sterling’s Quality Policy: “Sterling Machinery Co. Inc. is dedicated to serving our customers by giving them superior value in the product they obtain from us, by meeting the customer’s requirements in product quality level and timeliness, and by providing quick adaptability to a multitude of different designs and materials.”
