WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) issued the following statement Wednesday (April 13) upon passage of three bills aimed at strengthening border security:
“Improvements to our nation’s border security are long overdue and needed to protect the homeland from terrorist threats,” Westerman said. “As we have seen in Paris, Brussels, and other locations throughout the western world, terrorism knows no borders. The United States must continue to be on guard and these bills are the latest examples of Congress’ efforts to keep the American people safe.”
The bills approved by the U.S. House of Representatives include H.R. 3586 (Border and Maritime Coordination Improvement Act), H.R. 4482 (Southwest Border Security Threat Assessment Act of 2016), and H.R. 4403 (Enhancing Overseas Traveler Vetting Act).
