The Polk County 2018 General Election was held yesterday with only a little over 50% of registered voters turning out to vote.
The county has 11,976 registered voters; 6,077 votes were actually cast.
The unofficial results of the Polk County election are as follows:
RESULTS FOR THE CITY OF MENA:
City of Mena Mayoral Results:
The three candidates for Mayor of Mena all ran on the Independent ticket. Seth Smith received 708 votes; Brandon Martin received 545 votes; and Ron Tilley received 482 votes.
Mena Alderman Ward 3, Position 2 was between two Independent candidates. Ed Gibson received 1,209 votes and Craig L. Cohen received 438.
RESULTS FOR THE TOWN OF HATFIELD:
Hatfield Alderman Position 1 was between two Independent candidates. Diane Osborne received 57 votes and Cecil Fairless received 39.
Hatfield Alderman Position 4 was between two Independent candidates. Riley Johnson received 61 votes and John Gordon received 34.
Hatfield Alderman Position 5 was between two Independent candidates. Roger Marney received 48 votes and Jay Gisclair received 44.
Running unopposed for Mayor of Hatfield was Independent Linda E. Denton.
Others running unopposed in the election were Independent Joan Headley for Mayor of Cove; Independent Teresia Hartley for Mayor of Vandervoort; Independent Sandra Wilcher for Mayor of Wickes; and Independent Dwight W. Billings for Mayor of Grannis.
RESULTS FOR POLK COUNTY:
Brian Bowser, Republican, with 4,617 votes and Richard Allen Walker, Independent with 1,403 votes cast.
JP DISTRICT 1:
Chris Daniel, Independent, with 265 votes and Benjamin Finley, Republican, with 235 votes cast.
JP DISTRICT 11:
Tawana Gilbert, Independent, with 437 votes and Landon Rowe, Independent, with 300 votes cast.
Running unopposed for Circuit Clerk was Republican Michelle Heath Schnell.
