The U of A Cooperative Extension Service, Polk County Office of Emergency Management, and Daniel Communications partnered together to bring Polk County a Severe Weather Awareness Day on March 1st and gave away 100 free weather radios in less than one hour.
The event was held to bring awareness of severe weather to citizens as the ‘stormy season’ approaches. Educational material was on site as well as storm shelter providers. The weather radios, which were programmed by Chris Daniel, of Daniel Communications, were made available through the generosity of area businesses and individuals. Over $3000 was pledged and collected to make the free radios possible.
