After exceptional performances in the 1A Region 4 Basketball Tournament, the Acorn senior girls and senior boys basketball teams are moving on to the 1A State Basketball Tournament in Morrilton.
In rematches of the 1A 7 West District Tournament, both the Lady Tigers and Tigers took on the Kirby Lady Trojans and Trojans in the championship games of the 1A Region 4 Tournament.
With wins against St. Paul (61-25) and County Line (65-45), the Lady Tigers moved on to the finals game against Kirby, but fell short by nineteen, 59-40.
The Acorn senior boys advanced to the finals game with wins over Hartford (76-55) and Scranton (59-49), but also fell short to Kirby, by fourteen, 70-56.
On Wednesday, February 28th, both the Acorn Lady Tigers and Tigers will compete in the 1A State Basketball Tournament. The Lady Tigers, a two seed out of region four, will take on Mount Vernon-Enola, a two seed out of region three, at 4:00pm. Following the Lady Tigers, the Acorn senior boys, a two seed out of region four, will also take on Mount Vernon-Enola, a two seed out of region three, at 5:30pm.
